About Us
Formed in 2003, Travel Photographer of the Year (TPOTY) rapidly became one of the world's most prestigious photography awards.
Open to amateur and professional photographers of all ages, and from all countries, TPOTY regularly attracts entries from some 100 countries each year. For the last two years the overall winner of the awards has been British – with Craig Easton taking the title of travel Photographer of the Year in 2012 and Timothy Allen in 2013. Previous overall winners of the competition have come from Canada, Bangladesh, Malaysia, UK and the USA, while photographers from a further 35 countries have won individual category prizes - and all have enjoyed significant international exposure for their work.
In partnership with the Royal Geographical Society (with IBG), Travel Photographer of the Year stages a major annual exhibition at the Society's headquarters in Kensington, London, which, year-on-year, has broken all attendance records for an exhibition at the Society, attracting 48,000 visitors in just five weeks in 2013. The TPOTY winning images are also showcased in the popular 'Journey' series of books.
